17th April
was the third day of the journey. We set off at 8am from San Cipirello to
Monreale. On this day, we were at the school in Monreale, where we had to work
in groups. Within a group there were 6 students, 2 Spanish, 2 Italian, 2 Hungarian
pupils. The topics of the day were science and art in the present and future.
In the morning, we were working in groups of science and technology concerning
the following topics: alternative energies in the household industry and
innovative technologies to produce energy (STEM system – Solar Thermo Electric
Magaldi). During the workshop, we had to write science- and energy-related questions that would be asked in the power plant at San Filippo del Mela. Then, from 12.30 till
14.00 the students and teachers visited the town exploring food and local
customs. After that, we went back to the school and continued our work with the
previous group. Our next topic was art and local identity and art
and urban regeneration (The case of Favara). After finishing work, we had a coffee break with coffee,
biscuits, soft drinks and ice cream. Finally, we travelled home from Monreale to
San Cipirello.
In spite of the fact that it wasn’t the most exciting day, it was a
big experience for us and we learnt a lot of new information about certain places in Sicily. In addition, this day was a good chance to know each other
deeply.
