Unforgettable mobility in Sicily - Saturday

Saturday was the last whole day that we could spend all together with all the Italian and Spanish students. In the morning, we started our trip from San Cipirello and visited Palermo, the magnificent capital of Sicily.
First, we visited the Piazza Indipendenza (the Independence Square) of Palermo which is the most important central square of the city. Everyone was astonished by the scene of the palm trees and the amazing buildings. Our second destination was the Palazzo dei Normanni (Palace of the Normans) . It was the seat of the Kings of Sicily during the Norman domination and served afterwards as the main seat of power for the subsequent rulers of Sicily. Today, it works as the parliament of Palermo. Later, we had the chance to enter into a marvellous chapel, the Cappella Palatina. Its interior is decorated with gold, and amazing mosaic illustrations. After these places, we went to the one of the most significant markets, situated in Albergheria, to the Ballaró. To our surprise, there were a lot of people, shouting with each other, selling their fruits, vegetables or meat. We got to know that the vendors do this yelling as a competition with others and make the people buy their products. I must say that it was definitely a special experience as a foreigner. Also, we visited the Modern Art Gallery of Palermo to see a wonderful exhibition there. In the afternoon, we had some free time in the city centre. We could buy some souvenirs and gifts for our families, and enjoy the atmosphere. In the evening, we didn’t go home, as an awesome dinner was served for everyone in the Casale de Principe, next to San Giuseppe Jato. It was a very rich dinner with local specialities, such as bruschetta, cheese, vegetables and pasta. Unfortunately, this was the last night that we could spend with the whole group so at the end of the dinner, we had to say goodbye to our friends, holding back tears, hoping that we will see each other in the future.
Overall, I believe that it was an amazing day, and we spent it with great people. I hope that we will have more days like this during the following Erasmus trips!
